Who plays a musical instrument?

Well, I started out on the piano from 3rd grade through ~7th grade. Still play, but I never had the self- discipline to make myself practice. But, I do have the John Dunbar Theme from Dancing with Wolves memorized.

Played the French Horn all through Junior High, High School, and the first 3 years of college, but I put it down so I could concentrate on graduating. Unfortunately, my sister decided that she liked my instrument better than hers (she also plays the French Horn) so she has commandeered it.

And I’ve plinked around on the ukelele and the guitar, but nothing special at all there. And I did choir in high school, but my vocal abilities lend themselves better to singing in my jeep with the stereo turned up loud.

My favorite pieces to play:
Horn Solo - Dukas’ Vilanelle and Nelhybel’s Scherzo Concertante
Orchestral music horn part - Fanfare for the Common Man

And the piano piece I most wish I could play is Edvard Grieg’s Concerto in A minor

Trumpet, but it’s been a few years. Around 1996, my instrument of choice switched to voice (baritone).

Yes, but do you play gamelan (presumably under the heading of “some percussion”)? Or, like Uke Ike, is this another case of false advertising?

In either case, the BBC currently offers a Virtual Gamelan for your amusement here. Go wild.

I envy the multi-instrumentalists out there. Most of those I’ve become acquainted with are truly very musical people. I’ve played guitar since about 1960, and still find it challenging. I play in a local club band, mostly doing 20’s - 30’s jazz tunes and a little western swing.

Bass guitar and a little guitar.

Influences: Paul McCartney, Gene Simmons, James Jamerson, Adam Clayton, Jaco Pastorius, Cliff Burton, Jason Newsted.

I’ve got a great-sounding (but beat up) Fender Jazz Bass and an Ibanez 5-string.
