That didn’t help.
One thing I realized: View page source is pretty transparent for the “who posted” page. The only problem is that I didn’t see anything that would specify the order other than by number of posts… could it be random? That doesn’t seem right to me. Wouldn’t there have to be some “code” that specified “random”?
Maybe Slacker can help. He’s pretty knowledgeable of these things.

The best I can do now is to relate that I brought this to my OCD support group and I am trying to move on…

Okay it’s got to be random. Spongemom just jumped from second to last, to third.
Scroll down to the bottom of any page. You will see Contact Us - Straight Dope Homepage - Archive - Top in a blue bar. Click on Archive. A list of all* the threads on the boards, grouped by forum. An interesting way to browse old threads. Can’t post though.
*a lot of early threads are missing or scrambled due to gremlins in the system…
Sure you can. Just click on “view full version”. Seems to work fine. However, for old threads, you really, really shouldn’t post.
