What’s the age cut-off going to be? Daniel Craig was 38 when first cast as Bond in Casino Royale. That seems a touch old for me, but it certainly worked. Pierce Brosnan was 42 in GoldenEye, and Timothy Dalton was either 41 or 43 for The Living Daylights.
Well, that kills my idea of casting someone 24-30. Let’s look at 35-42 U.K. actors then. My off the cuff idea of Jamie Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is both too old, at 46, and Danish to boot. Idris Elba turns 44 this year. (Cue sad trombone.)
But 35-42-ish UK actors is where we should start, IMHO.

Nobody. James Bond was [del]reduced[/del] expanded to a cloud of ionized particles at the end ofCasino Royale in 1967. It’s high time we stopped pretending that didn’t happen, put an end to the glorification of infantile and deadly Cold War dick-waving, and produced a twenty-six film series of the adventures of Caractacus Potts, his family, and their decidedly NON-Aston Martin magical motorcar.
Lin-Manuel Miranda could manage the song-writing chores quite handily, I’m sure.
If my suggestion is voted down, then the next Bond should be Michael Cera.
If you’re going for a Roger Moore type, I’d say Tom Hiddleston.
If you’re looking for a Timothy Dalton type, try Aidan Turner.
I have no problem at all with the popular choice of Idris Elba.
I also like Chiwetel Ejiofor, though he’d be a good villain instead, I think. As would other commonly listed name, Damian Lewis.
Michael Fassbender and other common choices like Tom Hardy or Henry Cavill are a bit “too much” in my mind, whatever that means. Something just doesn’t feel right for those choices.
It will probably be none of them. Seems the likely choice is going to be the guy from Divergent, Theo James.
