Ditto, making up the two out of the 25 people in my graduating class who stayed.
Left Dayton, OH when I was 9 and never looked back. Did go back to Cincinnati, before moving to Mississippi. Know plenty of people in Cincinnati that have never lived anywhere else. My wifes people in Alabama have stayed around home. Lots of people in Tupelo have always lived there and all of my neighbors around here have stayed put. Life would be boring as hell if it weren’t for us nomads, but it is those that have roots that make life worth living. Takes all kinds to make the world turn.
Not me. Grew up in The Bronx. Been in Chicago since '72.
I’m an acorn that didn’t fall far from th’ tree at all. Same property, same house, same street, same suburb, same town, same island. I just sit back and watch the stars move across th’ sky around me.
My family has lived within 10 miles of the place my parents currently live since 1750. Talk about putting down roots.
Born in Stockholm and have lived there since (in different areas though). I guess it depends if you come from a big city or not (if Stockholm can be considerd big can of course be debated).
I moved away from my hometown (Alton,IL) to Atlanta when I was 21. Joined the Air Force 7 months late and moved all over the south. Eventually I settled in Omaha. I will die here. My dad never moved away except for 3 years in the Army (spent less than 100 miles from home) my mom moved around a bit but eventually came back home. I have 2 sisters that moved away for college but both have moved back home at one time or another. One lives there now and probably wont be moving away again. I’d have to be an unloved invalid to move back home.
I have moved to antirely different zipcode. Well, one digit is different, and it’s, um, the last one. Used to be a 7, now it’s a 6. And if I have my way, I’ll never move, unless it’s to retire to an island paradise. (So, no, I’ll never move.)
I’ve always been in the Chicago suburbs, so has my husband. Our parents have lived 2 blocks from each other for over 40 years (and never met until our reception). We plan to split when the folks are gone.
Nashville, born and raised. Went to college in Bowling Green, KY for 3 yrs but was home almost every weekend so that hardly counts. In fact I’ve never even been across the Mississippi River. Been as far north as Cincinnati or Indianapolis, whichever is farther. East to S. Carolina. West to Memphis. South to the Bahamas. But I’m mostly confined to the south-eastern U.S. and loving it.
