Who Still Supports Wesley Clark?

Try this. It’s just some guy’s transcript, but it’s better than nothing.

Well, I just lost all respect for Franks. He’s not qualified to comment on Clark’s character.
Gen. Franks Doubts Constitution Will Survive WMD Attack

If this were a bad post-apocalyptic role-playing game, Franks would be positioning himself for the coup…

Horseshit.

He "expressed his worries " about what would be “catastrophic consequences.”

"It’s not in the history of civilization for peace ever to reign. Never has in the history of man. … I doubt that we’ll ever have a time when the world will actually be at peace.”

The man is a pessimist, with a dim view of human nature and a strong belief that our way of life is fragile. Not surprising given his line of work: he’s spent his life looking at the threats to it. I hope he’s wrong, but we won’t find out for a thousand years.

To spin this into ‘he’s looking forward to seizing power’ is disgusting and dishonest. The man isn’t even a political figure; he has been asked if he supports Clark, and has said no without elaborating.

Who is smearing whom here?

Oh, for god’s sake…notice the little bit where it says “IF this were a bad post-apocalyptic role-playing game”. As, to my knowledge, this is NOT a bad post-apocalyptic role-playing game, then no, I’m not saying Franks is actually positioning himself to take power.

God, try to inject a little geeky cyberpunk-type humor into a thread…

You forgot to mention the death ray. If you’d have mentioned the death ray, everything would have been all right.

Sorry, Jayjay; didn’t get it. Consider all wrath deflected at Squink, who I don’t think was joking.

Of course not. Slingers of shit like General Franks are fully deserving of having their own shit noted, and flung back at them.
On a slightly different note, didn’t you think his handling of the final assualt on Mt. Doom, or whatever, in Afghanistan was a bit on the wimpy side ? If he’d been a bit less indecisive, Osama might not have gotten away.

Which is it? Is he indecisive and wimpy, or the next arch-villian?

Isn’t it just possible that he said what he said as a warning? As in, “Don’t let this happen, people.”

Sure, you’re welcome to give him the benefit of the doubt Sam. Just as I’ll give Clark the benefit of the doubt. Franks appears to say some pretty wild stuff. That implies that treating Frank’s assessment of Clark’s character as gospel truth just isn’t warranted.
