I know I do. It’s my absolute favorite holiday, waaaayyy more fun than Christmas, and I’ve had to miss it so many years now. On the one hand, I know that Halloween has become much more of a holiday for grown-ups than it used to be, and I love that! On the other hand, it’s really been kind of ruined for kids. Lots of places the community dictates what day and time they can trick or treat, and it’s during DAYLIGHT hours. What the…? Not to mention all the urban legends about adulterated candy that have made so many parents paranoid.
And with it falling all days of the week, you never know when the parties are going to be, and the trick or treating gets short shrift when there’s a time conflict with soccer practice or class. I say let’s make Halloween fun for everybody.
Those of you who celebrate Halloween as part of your religion can continue to have it on the correct night, of course–whereas those of you who think it’s evil should stay home with your lights off or go out for dinner and let us have our fun.
