I was just sitting around and talking to the wife of one of our clients. Seems that her husband was an ex drill instructor in the US Marine Corps. She asked if I had seen a photo and I faintly recall seeing it. She said the photo is hung up at (some building) Camp Pendleton. Apparently it’s a semi famous photograph.
Anywho, she said the photo is titled “Pusan Landing” and shows a marine pointing his rifle at someone (she had a pretty heavy southern drawl, so it was a bit hard to understand). Korean War, obviously.
So, my research brings up any number of photos, but are there any particularly famous photos that match this description?
For what it’s worth, she described it like this: "Have you ever seen a picture from Korea-- it’s real famous. They have it hanging in (( name of building at Pendleton )). The picture is of a young marine, holding up his rifle up like this :: holds arm up as if the rifle was against his shoulder, but pointed down at something :: He’s pointin’ it at ((something unintelligable, but I imagine it would be the enemy?)) They call it- - title it, ya know-- “Pusan Landing.” Well that man was my husband ((big smile)) "
I know I have seen that picture, I just have no idea where and I can’t find it. I would just ask her to show me, but they live three hours away and wont be down any time soon.
