Who was the first person you ever voted for?

In 5th grade we had a mock election in my classroom. Reagan won by a landslide. Carter got maybe two votes (this was an urban public school with maybe 30 in the class); Anderson got one (the teacher’s).

I voted for Reagan.

My first real election: Dukakis in '88. Let’s not go there. :smack:

Hm, in my earlier post I remembered a gradeschool ‘prom’ election but forgot my first mock presidential election.

In 1976, in fourth grade, I voted for Ford against Carter. Ford carried my classroom 12-9, but Carter carried the other fourth-grade classroom by a count of 15-5. Therefore, a grateful nation permitted him to ascend to the presidency.

In a later mock election my high school chose Reagan over Mondale, 72% to 28%. Quite the landslide, but nothing compared to a high school about 75 miles away, where Reagan received 100% of the student vote. And probably would again today.

John F. Kennedy

1980- Phil Crane in the primary, Reagan in the general election
84- Reagan, 88- Jack Kemp in the primary, Bush -general, 92- Bush, 96- I think Phil Graham primary, Dole general, 2000 Bush I think in both
