If I’m not mistaken, breast implants didn’t come around until the 60’s. I got to thinking (I know, a dangerous endeavor): Who was the first Playboy Centerfold who had implants in her centerfold picture?

I really don’t know, and apparently not too many others do either. I’m virtually certain Anna Nicole Smith has implants, and I believe she was a Playmate (centerfold). I rather doubt she was the first, but I wouldn’t know who might have preceded her in this regard.
Having personally, extensively examined and fondled the breasts of every Playboy centerfold since 1962, I can unequivocally assure you that it was Veronica Mankeiweitz, cover girl of the August 1973 issue, which also featured an excellent interview wih Gore Vidal an some insightful recommendations on serving port after a dinner party.
Privately, Veronica confessed to me that it was a tough decision to get the implants, because it ran counter to the Twiggy look, but she had always admired the voluptuous girls of previous decades, especially the ones in the Alberto Vargas paintings of the 1920s Esquire issues. She thought the look would make a comeback. But she generally kept her implants a secret. Her breasts were hardly enormous–maybe a generous C-cup–and I myself would have never suspected were it not for that torrid evening we spent in that Bear Lake cabin.
Yeah. Veronica Makeiweitz. I’m sure of it.
