Does anyone know this? I’m thinking it’s an old Animals song that’s been re-worded to fit selling Pontiac/GMC cars/trucks (ye gods the horror!), but am not sure. This is the song that goes:
“Act now supplies are limited … you might as well be walking on the sun.”
Help me please, someone, I’m begging ya! LOL I keep hearing that song in my head and I need to find out who the original artist(s) was, please.
Thanks folks! I have no idea why I thought it was an old Animals song–and I have to confess that I know absolutely nothing about Smash Mouth! LOL (was kinda hoping that someone else from my generation was gonna jump in here and say, “hey yeah, that does sound like the Animals.” LOL guess not…;))
It is a catchy tune … and before I start sounding like one of the “raters” on Bandstand, I’ll sign out. Thanks again
Well…
Smash Mouth and this song were involved in a cross-generational moment.
Back in '98 on “Penn & Teller’s Sin City Spectacular” Engelbert Humperdinck joined Smash Mouth on stage for a performance of “Walking On The Sun.”
It actually worked pretty well.
They found common ground in the King. Smash Mouth are big Presley fans and they got a kick out of Engelbert’s recollections of his dealings with Elvis.
As to your Animals allusion, you can almost hear a little bit of “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” in “Walking On The Sun.”
I actually have the Fush Yu Mang CD (hey, it got me out of the Crappy CD of the Month Club[sup]TM[/sup]!) and the whole disk sounds derivative of other people’s works, so it’s not surprising that you might mistake it for an Animals song. And for some strange reason, none of the used CD stores in town are willing to take it off my hands…
