Who will be Clinton's running mate?

And taller than Danny DeVito.

A reasonable discussion by the NYT “The Upshot” talking heads.

Arguing for Vilsack:

The problem with Corey is that the ticket would read: Clinton - Booker

Here’s CNN on why Vilsack, despite being older and none too flashy, is still in the mix: http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/21/politics/tom-vilsack-hillary-clinton-vice-presidential-search/index.html

And the Republican ads would write themselves. “Clinton? Book’er.”

Another one for your Predictions thread.

Clinton’s probably going to settle with someone who’s going to end up leaving a lot of the progressive base in need of anti-depressants. She should be wiping the floor with Trump but she looks awful in interviews and she’s probably going to end up playing into the Bernie Bro narrative, which is that she’s just a sham of a candidate. I was hoping she would prove me right and pick someone like Booker or Warren – I don’t think Sanders was the right individual but his message was right. But now I’m just not so sure about her. The argument she’s giving to voters is: vote for me, I’m not Trump. Not a strong case.

The problem with Vilsack is that the jokes nearly write themselves: ball sack, vile sack, shitsack, etc. Kaine is just boring. Not Al Gore boring, but still a snoozer.

My suspicion, as I’ve said before, is that there was never a VP search, that Vilsack has been the guy since the beginning, maybe even since 2008.

I hope she picks Vilsack as it will only hurt her chances
Unfairly shitcanned a black woman from his department based on part of a video.
In the pocket of Big-GMO.
Favors the Kelo decision aka fuck homeowners. they slow down the economy.
Cosplays as Winnie the Pooh

Any candidate with a record has something to attack. Expecting an Iowa pol to not be pro-Monsanto is like expecting a Michigan pol to not be pro-Ford.

Which works great as Governor of Iowa but will it translate across the country. I want to see a commercial with Clint Eastwood questioning a chair with the new frankenfish on it asking about GMO food. And be honest, being pro-Kelo is not a popular stance anywhere. And Jesus Christ - Winnie the Pooh?! At least be Tigger FFS.

Democrats can’t escape Kelo. They are the party of government and the Kelo decision involved all of the court’s liberal wing. Any SCOTUS justice a Democrat appoints will be pro-Kelo.

I rather doubt that, actually, given how unpopular the decision turned out to be, and the subsequent state legislation to limit its effect. Haven’t heard if Judge Garland (remember him?) has expressed an opinion on the case.

I know he allegedly has zipper problems but I always liked Richardson and wouldn’t mind seeing him back, even if he’s a longshot.

It’s going to be Kaine.

Wouldn’t surprise me, and I wouldn’t mind if it is, but I still think Perez would be the better pick.

All the indicators are it’s going to be Kaine. I think it’s a good choice. He double downs on experience and solidity in contrast to Trump. He helps woo moderate Republicans who dislike Trump. He will gain the ticket a point or two in a crucial swing state and perhaps North Carolina as well. He has some national security experience which will probably be important in the campaign.

It’s not a HORRIBLE choice, in that Virginia has a Democratic governor (in fact, Kaine’s wife is in his cabinet), but Kaine is just so boring!

What’s an exciting Vice-president going to do for you? Jackshit that’s what.
