Who will be Trump's running mate?

Perhaps Sarah Palin is due for another 15 minutes of fame?

She already had that.

Palin is so done you could probably stick a fork through her, not just in her.

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem told reporters that she would consider being former President Trump’s pick for vice president if he were to win the 2024 Republican nomination.

and

When asked about being a potential choice for vice president in a phone interview, Stefanik responded: “I’d be honored to serve in the Trump administration in any capacity,”

However, by your criteria, Sanders may be smarter:

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who served as White House press secretary under former President Donald Trump, did not directly answer if she would be the former president’s running mate, suggesting she would be in her job for seven more years.

If you think that Trump is all-around dumb, and going to lose in November, it makes sense to predict Lake, Carlson, or a relative. But I think he’s smart enough to avoid someone too easy to peg as another Palin.

Realistically, these things are unpredictable. I’ve already said that Stefanik in most likely, but she’s criticized him in the past, and is now too eager. Trump may not like that. So – Stefanik is most likely, but still under 50 percent chance. The way I just wrote it, I have to be correct, but that’s how it looks.

If Trump dips in polling, then Tim Scott would make sense. But if on track to winning, as I think he now is, there’s no reason to shake things up.

Family. Woman. Why not both? Not Tiffany.
He would love it!
Will she refuse? Perhaps. I can think of a couple of reasons.

Kyle Rittenhouse. I think hes about 21. Also not boring enough.
I am guessing it will be someone we’ve never heard of.

The quote I saw was that he was 25% sure on who he would pick. With Trump that means he has several people he is stringing along but he thinks they all still have more money to spend. I’m betting on a billionaire in the mix; one of the Mercers?

If he has chosen Don Jr., then for sure Jr. doesn’t know about it. The kid leaks like a sieve. He would have hinted by now. Plus he is a known drug user, which the Donald despises. (and yes, he uses amphetamines himself, but nothing he does registers in his own mind as anything but perfect.)

I could see his base worshipping at Ivanka’s feet. But The Donald will not want to share the spotlight with her. And she and Jared have taken their billions, they have nothing more to gain from the white house.

I could def see him choosing Eric. He is dumb, no challenge to his Dad in any way, and endlessly compliant. But he is needed as a sacrificial lamb in the courts for the Trump businesses.

Barron is too young, and Tiffany is (I hope) too smart. She has a law degree, so she’s a threat to stand up to him like Pence did.

Lindsey Graham would be an interesting choice. He fits the personality profile perfectly. And he has kowtowed submissively despite his early statements about Trump. I think Trump really likes forcing people into that position even more than he likes people who start out on his side.

Another possibility is Clarence Thomas, who seems quite unhappy with his current position now that everyone is watching his perks so closely.

Huckabee-Sanders is an interesting idea. I hadn’t thought of that, but it would explain a lot of her recent decision making.

The vice president has the same age requirements as those for the president. A vice-president needs to be at least 35.

Tim Scott is his smartest choice. So that means he won’t pick him for fear of another Pence.

She’s not only merely done, she’s really most sincerely done.

I’m sticking with Keri Lake. As big a bootlicker as Stefanik but has the one quality that Donnie admires in a woman- physical attractiveness.

On the one hand, Graham is very experienced at being a toady to whoever he believes will advance his (Graham’s) political power.

On the other hand, Graham is also very well-known as a windsock, and Trump might believe (rightfully so) that Graham would turn on him the moment it’s politically advantageous to do so.

On the gripping hand, while I’m not sure if Trump is homophobic, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he is, and the long-standing rumors about Graham’s sexual orientation could mean that Trump would be uncomfortable working closely with him.

Apparently when Tim Scott dropped out, a lot of people said, “who?” That kinda surprised me, but if it’s going to be someone people are unfamiliar with, he’s apparently in the running. And he’s Black, and it would kinda be rubbing Nikki Haley’s nose in her loss, so he has that going for him in Trump’s view.

A Vice President who has already demonstrated a willingness to kill somebody? I doubt even Trump is that dumb.

Last time Trump chose Pence because he felt he needed a running mate who would get him Christian conservative voters. But I think Trump now feels he has ascended and doesn’t need anyone else’s help. So he would worry about appealing to any shaky demographic.

On the other hand, Trump’s still made at Pence for refusing to break the law when ordered. So this time, Trump’s top priority will be somebody who has demonstrated absolute loyalty.

Which is why I feel Ramaswamy locked up the VP spot when he publicly announced he would voluntarily withdraw from the Colorado primary after Trump’s name was removed. That’s the kind of ass kissing Trump expects.

Except Ramaswamy is brown and not Christian. Both are big disqualifiers with the MAGAts.

One thing about Sarah Huckabee-Sanders …

After Dobbs (effectively, overturning Roe), there could be something between apathy and antipathy among the Bible Belt evangelicals toward this amoral train wreck of a ‘man.’

Something that speaks to them might have tactical value in the old sense of picking VP to garner votes where you’re weakest.

Vivek’s pigmentation will disqualify him. Don’t forget his casino had to hide their black employees when Donnie came down to the gaming floor and that he urged the execution of the Central Park Five, who were later proven innocent. Don’t forget that his company settled out of court for racial discrimination for refusing to rent to blacks. Don’t forget the racial dog whistle (more like a fog horn) regarding the Obama birtherism. You’re talking about a thorough racist, no way does he run with a minority.

Plus Ramaswamy isn’t Christian.

Trump has demonstrated he can tell the MAGAts anything and they will agree with him.

In fact after Pence “betrayed” him, Trump will probably see Ramaswamy not being a Christian as a plus. And Ramaswamy’s race and religion will mean Trump won’t find him threatening.

I just checked a far right forum discussion of his dropping out. Negative comments are rare. They like him. And he’s against a federal abortion ban. He’s for state level bans, but, like Trump, he’s got a path towards a centrist abortion pivot.

I think Trump has a gender gap that makes a woman a more likely pick. But if Trump likes him personally, could be.

As for being a brown Hindu, that makes him an own the libs choice. MAGA types will say something like that they prefer a real Hindu veep to a a blended Baptist (except they’ll find a ruder way to say it).
