Well, it’s larger than the Venn diagram overlap of people who will real-fuck on camera and people with an ounce of acting talent. It’s just that in hardcore porn there’s generally no story anyway anymore (and they don’t even pretend otherwise) so that doesn’t matter for a second.

I was in college during the brief golden age of quality hard core porn (like the original Flesh Gordon.) 20 years ago soft core (or at least some of it) had plots also. It sounds like the same pressures which ruined hardcore has ruined softcore also.
It appears that there is porn for every fetish except that for decent plotting.

Seriously, there used to be a niche for such women, but it seems to have disappeared. In the closing days of VHS/beginning days of DVD I saw lots of “Big Breast” titles in respectable video stores, featuring the works of Russ Meyer (and his chosen starlets), Softcore starring the likes of Kitten Natividad, and things like Playboy’s Voluptuous Vixens (two different releases). Now these seem to have disappeared for some reason – i don’t see them in the remaining video-selling places, or among the “adult” offerings on streaming video, or on late-night HBO and the like. The only title I’ve seen is a Girls Gone Wild claiming to have “Big Breasts”. But not even Playboy seems to have these anymore. I don’t understand the disappearance. Certainly there are plenty of Big Breast sites on the internet. But you’d think it would survive in the more open video market, as well.

I don’t think this post has been emphasized enough. Series like these are where soft porn is going. It is being co-opted into premium non-broadcast TV series. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it disappeared as a separate and distinct genre of its own as it becomes more integral to regular series fare.
The problems of broadcast TV are just gonna get worse, as federal regulations are preventing them from competing in porn television. I don’t watch a single broadcast TV series already, and not only because of restrictions on bodies, but because normal adult language can’t be used.
Even the highly regarded Game of Thrones has soft core porn in it, I don’t remember a scene in the book where Little Finger gave prostitutes pointers on ass play.
