WHO would actually evict Trump from the White House?

In theory, he won’t be in the White House at noon on January 20, but instead sitting on stage, behind the new president-elect. He has no reason even to return to the White House.

If he’s contesting the election, he won’t be at the inauguration.

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought someone was saying that the World Health Organization would evict trump. I guess not.

Without descending into paranoia, what if the Secret Service was fully in support of trump? Or enough of them? You know how trump is stacking his administration with lackeys. Plus all those pardons! What if the SS (how apropos!) just decide to help him stay.

Stupid board double post! My first one ever!

I blame trump.

I’ll get on my knees and pray we don’t get fooled again.

Wait… I thought the Deep State was against Trump? That’s what he’s saying anyway.

And the military doesn’t maintain allegiance to the President in any event. They swear to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States”

That’s not the same thing as allegiance to the man; if anything, being true to their oaths would require them to follow orders from the newly elected President (that “true faith and allegiance” part would ensure that).

If no one else wants to do it I’ll volunteer.

And the military is incapable of violating their oaths? (Robert E Lee, Stonewall Jackson,…)

I think trump will put out the call through FOX news for all of the gun-toting, 2nd amendment-loving MAGAts to grab their weapons and surround the White House to protect him. And by gum, they’ll do it. And love doing it.

Secret Service has no meaningful power to “keep” Trump going as President.

Pentagon won’t take orders from an ex-president. State Department won’t take orders from an ex-president. Justice Department won’t take orders from an ex-president. National Guard won’t take orders from an ex-president.

If Secret Service sides with Trump (which they wouldn’t,) Trump would still be the same as he is - an unauthorized intruder in the White House the instant he becomes ex-president, but with a few guys in suits and sunglasses sitting near him.

Oh, sure.
99% of those folks are chickenshits. They aren’t going to risk a scratch to help him.

That was my thought when I saw the thread, too.

But the heroic 1%will spring into action.

So, they’ll shoot him with a tranquilizer dart, hog-tie him, and transport him to Mar A Lago to be released into his natural environment??

Sometime past, the same or mostly similar question was asked. My advice was to wait a few days until trump went to play golf, and change the locks.

I’m not saying they’ll be effective. But I think they will love piling in their pickups with the confederate flags in the back windows, cases of beer, and all those phallic weapons and caravaning down to D.C. It’s gonna be a big ol’ shindig!

Didn’t we have to answer these questions, at least in planning sessions, during the last Nixon Presidency? Follow those guidelines, whatever they are.

This thread, so far, leaves unaddressed the obvious question: If there are two claimants to the Presidency, both issuing orders, who decides which of them is legitimate?

The Secret Service will protect whichever claimant they feel is the legitimate president (assuming that they aren’t abjectly partisan). Likewise the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Likewise anyone else who might have the power to eject Trump, if they so choose.

Recall the exciting days in 1991, when a few old-school Bolsheviks took over the Soviet Union while Gorbachev was on a vacation. In the ensuing chaos, military platoons massed around the Russian White House. But some of those platoons faced outward, threatening to fire on the riots multitudes in the streets – and some other platoons turned and fired on the Russian White House!

The Joint Chiefs of Staff will presumably order the military (if needed) to protect whoever they see (or whoever they choose) as President. If both claimants start issuing orders, all the people who might implement those orders will obey whoever they choose.

Who will decide in the end? Whichever side has the most guns or the longest knives?

Through much of the 14th and 15th centuries, there were two claimants to the Papacy, one in Rome and one in Avignon. This led to a Schism in the Church, with partisans on both sides choosing to follow the Pope of their choice, each Pope routinely excommunicating the other.

If Pope Donald claims to be still the president, there is no assurance that the conflict will be resolved in any orderly way.
