WHO would actually evict Trump from the White House?

So we’ve all seen the threads speculating about whether or not Trump would/will leave office/the White House voluntarily in case of impeachment or not being re-elected.

What I was wondering is WHO would actually physically boot him out?

Let’s say that it’s January 21st, 2020, and Biden has won the election and been inaugurated. Meanwhile, Trump has holed himself up, claiming that something went wrong with the election, in a way reminiscent of Jake Blues’ litany of excuses (“There was a miscount!, The electors were faithless! I won the popular vote! Voter suppression! It was Hillary’s fault! Locusts! I swear to God I’m still president!”), and is refusing to acknowledge the election’s outcome, swearing by tweet that he’s still the President and he’s not leaving.

Who would actually enter the White House and remove him physically? Would that be the Capitol Police? The Secret Service? FBI? Delta Force? A shirtless Joe Biden with a length of chain?

Any answer would be speculation.

As a practical matter he would just be ignored. His staff’s paychecks would stop. They would turn off his phones. If need be they could cut off the electricity. In the end, the kids would have to drive up and lead grandfather home.

Since the postulated situation is unprecedented, let’s move this to IMHO.

So as long as we’re just talking about Donald John Trump (and not an actual civil war or something), I think it would be these guys who would be frog-marching him out of the building.

(And once again, I am flashing back to that scene towards the end of Fargo when Jerry Lundegaard–William H. Lacy’s character–is finally arrested.)

What would the Capitol Police have to do with the White House? They protect Congress, not the Executive.

While there isn’t a precedent for this or rules specifically laid out, the Secret Service is the best bet. They’re a non-partisan organization that has an on-going relationship with former Presidents, already are in place wherever Trump happens to be, and maintain situational control of such areas. Any Personal Security Detachment under normal circumstances has rules and procedures for moving their principle out of locations even against said principle’s objections.

White House security is largely the responsibility of the Secret Service. It would be their job to have him escorted off the premises.

The question is - what’s happening in detail?
If it’s a matter of holing up in the White House, then it’s a matter of how much confrontation is necessary. All the hangers-on would go home each night we presume (not sleep over) so would eventually not be let back in. (No food goes in…Lure him out with a cheeseburger) If he fails to go voluntarily at some point, if he won’t cooperate with the Secret Service then it’s time for the men in white coats to come in and medicate him. Presumably the secrete service will do what the real president tells them, and I’m hoping that security precautions include ensuring there’s not firearms in the White House (other than theirs) so no armed stand-off. Plus if he tries to barricade the doors, I think there are too many doors to block them all. (Do you think there are secret passages in the WH?)

I think cooler heads will prevail and lead grandpa away peacefully - or else, he will set up shop in trump Tower and spend his time litigating the election results.

Exactly. There’s hundreds of offices in the White House. Trump can stay in the oval office and the new president can set up shop in another office. Just stop sending food in to Trump and he’ll eventually come out.

The problem is not if Trump refuses to leave the building. The problem would be if the military and/or the “deep state” were to continue to maintain allegiance to the old president, regardless of whether he is in the White House or camped out in a room in the Trump Hotel.

If Trump is holed up in the Oval Office, there would probably be Secret Service agents standing there in the Office with him, counting down mentally as the clock is 11:59:44, 11:59:45, etc…

If no compliance, then it would be repeated again, followed with, “This is the last time we’ll say this.”
