Who would I talk to about potential elderly (kinda) scam? 3 states involved

I’m aware of a company in one state who has a business that might be taking advantage of a elderly person who lives in assisted care in a second state, about a property they own in a third state.

I’m concerned this company has convinced this elderly person to sell their property at a very low amount, and then the company will sell it at market rate. This is a ‘land flipper’ company.

Call the sheriff in the county the property is in? or the state the person lives in? FBI because its interstate?

IMO … call the elder abuse / protective agency of the county where the old person lives.

called elder abuse in the state he lives in.
THey said the Attorney Generals office.
I called them, and they said call the Sheriff in the county the property is in.
The Sheriff’s office says they really don’t know if they can do anything.
Called the consumer scam complaint in the state the property is in.
THey say they can’t do anything…‘you should call the facility he lives in.’
The phone number for that facility seems disconnected or not correct. (I called last Sunday and got into a phone tree…now its not even going through)

I’d feel better about this if I knew he was getting a considerable fraction of what the landflipper is selling it for, and/or his family knows what is going on.

I think if you’re not a family member, they’re the ones you should be contacting, unless you have some authority over this person or they are of unsound mind. Otherwise, it seems to me that it’s their property and their choice.

Yes, I concur. I’d like to be sure the family members know about this. I’m not convinced he is of sound mind.

Get a local TV station ombudsman involved and asking questions of the alleged scam company?
