Who would publish a book of weird poetry this day and age?

I have a friend who can churn out poems by the hundreds on any given day, and more often than not they’re super weird and very funny to anyone with a warped mind. Kind of like Shel Silverstein, except not as tame.

My question is what publishers out there would be interested in publishing an actual book of his poetry, considering how weird it is? I was going to illustrate some of them, which might be a nice addition. Is that sort of thing dead nowadays?

I would post some examples but I haven’t asked his permission.

I can’t answer to the who would publish, but I would buy. I’m weird and warped and a big fan of Shel- the kids books, the Playboy stuff and the songs he wrote for Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show.

ETA: The Shel Silverstein books I’m looking at right now are published by HarperCollins, if that helps any.

Given the volume of output you’re describing, it sounds like it wouldn’t hurt for your friend to try to establish himself outside of print - either before, or alongside his attempts to get published.
If the material is good, it should be quite easy to build up a following on the web - maybe on a blog or personal website, in conjunction with promotion through social networks. No need to publish everything online - just enough to keep people interested and give them a proper taste of his style etc.

Not as tame as his kid stuff or not as tame as, for example, The Devil and Billy Markham?
