Of course they are. Their idea of democracy is “One dollar, one vote.”
McCain’s only chance of becoming president is to run as a Democrat.
I’m puzzled by all the Rice stuff. Can anyone compile a list of things that Rice has actually done successfully while serving in public office (I mean, besides getting nominated and confirmed)?
I’d love to see some combination of Frist/Santorum/DeLay. In whatever order.
Why do you think so?
Don’t hold your breath. I’ve already asked.
I think it’s mainly about her overall philosophy (moderate) and her general intelligence level. Give us a list of the accomplishments of the last 3 Sec’s of State. Their accomplishments tend to be hard to distinguish from that of the overall administration.
But your point is well taken and that’s why I don’t think she’s a good condidate for prez. Just for vice-prez.
Of course, you and **Elvis **might have better luck over in the other thread asking Democrats to list the accomplishments of Obama and Edwards. Or Gore for that matter.
I salivate over the prospect of Ron Paul. I would vote for him even over Al Gore.
 Thank you for putting that image in my head. Where’s the brain bleach?
And when was the last time a Sec of State went on to become president?
I don’t know. I’m not recommendy Condi for prez, just v-prez. Once you’re v-prez all bets are off regarding your past career and its chances of landing you in the WH.
Cite: George H. W. Bush
And Nixon, and LBJ (both Senators before VP).
No love for Elizabeth Dole?
IOW, you can’t come up with anything either.
I haven’t promoted *any * of those names, nor to I expect to until 2007 at the earliest. But, since you think so highly of Wiki:
Obama’s
Edwards’
Gore’s
FTR, the last SecState to become President was James Buchanan.
Aha, the suspected-to-be gay president, eh? Hm … things are looking up for Rice, perhaps.
Well, we all know how well he turned out, huh?
'Course, the man was a Democrat.
Why should I? I’m not proposing her for president. In fact, I explicitly said I didn’t think she was qualified for president.
I never said you did.
Again, I’m not recommending her for prez. Yet. Maybe in the future, but not now.
I’m sure you had your reasons for answering the question, then, even if you don’t choose to share them.
Then why did you direct me to another thread for answers to a question I didn’t ask?
That was a factual answer to a factual question asked by BrainGlutton. Lighten up.
Yes. I was explaining how a lot of people think, on both sides of the aisle.
Since you seem so curious as to what motivates Rice supporters, I thought you might also be curious about Obama and Edwards supporters, too. And it adds to my explanation, per above, of Rice supporters-- ideology often trumps specific accomplishments.
That **was **light.
Katherine Harris!
(I can only hope.)
Seriously, the Pubbies’ cupboard seems pretty bare right now. McCain would have been a formidable opponent but I agree that his embracing of Bush since 2000 has been weird and “flip-floppy.”
Condi? Seriously, what the… Do y’all seriously think see has a snowball’s chance? Even as a VP candidate I see it as highly unlikely. Though Elizabeth Dole as VP looks like it could work.
Look to governors who can raise a shitload of money and have the connections necessary:
Mike Huckabee
Jeb Bush
Mitt Romney
I doubt ol’ Mitt will make it through two or three primaries. That leaves Huckabee and Jeb.
