Whom do you live vicariously through?

A rich relative, a celebrity, rock star…

Personally I’ve been known to channel Bill Gates too often- watching the seconds tick by, imaging 100$ for each one. Cool.

My students. I worry that it’s unhealthy, but I know I do it: it’s so much fun hearing about being a teenager when you have absolute confidence that you will never actually have to BE a teenager again.

My characters I write for . Especially Jena , the lucky bitch.

My tabletop RPG characters. Everything they do is on a much grander scale than my life. In good times, they are more wealthy; in poverty, more wretched. Their tragedies are more tragic and their triumphs more epic. Their sulks are sulkier and their love affairs more passionate.

And their clothes are always fabulous.

My old roommate Michael Scott, lead singer and songwriter of an up-and-coming rock band in the town where I went to college. They’re always either traveling around playing gigs, recording in the studio, or partying with friends and fans. They always get free rent at their apartments for being the “official band” of the apartment complexes and playing at pool parties and stuff, they drink and eat for free almost everywhere in town, and they get girls all the time. Now Mike is managing a large club as well, and I’m convinced he will turn it into the best club ever. And all of them – him especially – are really good guys who have worked their asses off to get where they are. But to me, it’s a fantasy life I’d love to have.

The motorcycle shop I deal with is owned by a guy who quit a high paying computer related job with a national lab, and decided to to something he’d always dreamed of. I don’t dream of owning a motorcycle shop, but chucking it all and persuing your dream is something I admire.

Unfortuantly, [=ID&ID%5BNews%5D=11640]this](http://www.krqe.com/expanded.asp?RECORD_KEY[News) happened at the shop a few days ago. Felt like being kicked in the gut, and I’m sure it’s worse for [guy I know].
