"Long Black Veil’ was written in 1959 by Nashville songwriters Danny Dill and Maryjohn Wilkin for Lefty Frizzell. His recording was a top ten hit that same year. Sorry for the hijack, but it ticks me off a little when the song is attributed to Johnny Cash.

I also like Hank Sr’s version of your namesake song better than his son’s pitiful attempt. YMMV.
