Do you want people who championships as a player or do people who also won them as a coach count? If so Frank Crosetti of the New York Yankees would have a bunch as he coached the Yankees for quite a while.
I’m not sure who played on the most NFL championship teams, since NFL championships long predate the Super Bowl. But if you just want to know who’s been on the winning side of the most Super Bowls, the answer is defensive end Charles Haley. He won two Super Bowls with the San Francisco 49ers, and three more with the Dallas COwboys.
For hockey, two people have won eleven Stanley Cup championships. Henri Richard, as adam yax pointed out, has 11. If we count coaching as well, Hector “Toe” Blake has won 11, both playing and coaching with the Montreal Canadians.
Th Packers won NFL Championships in 1961, 1962, and 1965. The won the NFL title PLUS the Super Bowl the next two seasons, 1966-7, and 1967-8. But to me, that makes 5 titles. I don’t count the Super Bowl as an extra title on top of the others.
So, numerous players (Bart Starr is one) on the Lombardi-era Packers must have 5 championships to their credit. The question is, did any of those guys have ANOTHER championship from another team, before or after their term with the Packers?
If I’m not mistaken, cornerback Herb Adderley was with the Packers for all 5 of those Lombardi-era championships, and he later joined the Dallas Cowboys. I’m PRETTY sure Herb was on the 1971 Cowboys team that beat the DOlphins 24-3 in Super Bowl 6. IF I’m right, that means Herb Adderley played on 6 NFL championship teams.
For now, that puts Herb Adderley in the lead. Any other nominees?
