Just wanted any comments…
Me- I was enthralled. Except I am boring my real-life friends by going on and on about it, so I must turn to the teeming millions if i want further discussion.
Talk amongst yourselves…

Is this the musical with Bjork? I’ve been looking around, but it doesn’t seem to be playing here yet. Aagghhh!
You have to come to SF Demo, everyone knows that nothing good ever comes to Sonoma County.
I too found it interesting. I frequently have mixed feelings about Lars (von) Triers works. While some of it is quite well done, some seems purposely sloppy. His Dogme 95 doctrine hasn’t been kept by him, and he’s much better at self promotion than anything else. At the same time, I loved this movie.
On the contrary, many Dopers converged right here in Santa Rosa this summer for a BBQ. So, I wouldn’t say nothing good ever comes here…
I want to see this movie really bad. I think psy and I might have to have a little weekend excursion to the city.
ok, I’ll rephrase that. Nothing good can ever exist in Santa Rosa for more than a day or two.
I saw DitD about a month ago when it premiered here in Europe. Did I like it? Well… I had mixed feelings.
Breaking the Waves and Idiots (don’t know if it has been released in the US, with the hc-porn and all…) were touching, occasionally funny, if not nice experiences. And that’s the way I like 'em!
But Dancer in the Dark was just… alien. First of all, the 50s (60s?) atmosphere and the sceneries were very familiar, which is not suprising as the film was shot in Sweden. And I have never really liked musicals, except Les Parapluies de Cherbourg, funnily enough. Though I liked Cop Rock…
What really disturbed me with DitD was Bjork’s performance. She isn’t an acress and she wasn’t acting. Now, don’t get me wrong, I thought she was great as Selma
and the music was fine, but all those tears and anxiety were real. Von Trear is an exceptional director, but also
a bastard.
