And I know Ive made this point before, but why don’t they save themselves a ton of scratch and just hire a real good impersonator?

If I recall correctly, the narrator of The Name of the Rose isn’t revealed until the end.

My recollection is that it’s pointed out at the beginning of the movie. He talks about accompanying he Sean Connery character – and there’s only one person doing that.
