Another tip:
When in areas known for rigid enforcement of the vehicle code:
STAY OUT OF THE LEFT LANE!
Go just below the limit in lane 2 until:
Some bozo comes along in the left lane at a higher speed.
Wait until he is a couple of miles (edge of visibility) from you.
Pull into left lane and match his speed. He will find the cop for you.
I have passed more than one while they were waiting for the nice officer to put the finishing touches on their citation.
I used this on the western portion of PA (1991 - don’t remember, think it was I-80) - there is apparently a Highway Patrol training facility in one of the valleys - I remember it looked like they had just covered traffic stops and gone out to practice - 4 pull-overs with a couple of miles, 2 cops/vehicle.
And, of course, anytime in the deep South. For those who don’t know - for many, many decades almost every town in GA had a speed trap for the northerners heading to/from FL.
Jimmy Carter became famous for putting mobile homes on state property near the courthouse and staffing them with lawyers to bust the tickets.
Oh - if you see one cop, behave yourself for the next 10 minutes. They tend to travel in pairs for mutual back-up. And, it should be obvious, but:
Motorcycle cops have no way to transport the drunks they bust. They ALWAYS have another unit neatby.
Because they are continuing to tailgate, endangering their own lives, to try to make the person in front of them do something.
You can’t make the oblivious driver do what is right. Just slow down or pass. If it makes you happy, flip them off as you pass or something.
Wrong context, bub. I was not continuing to tailgate, and if you read the thread, you’d see all of this was addressed. Except the flipping off bit. Won’t do that.
