I’m hungry and I want sushi. I haven’t had it in weeks. The only problem is that there’s no one around to go out to eat with.

Hamachi Temaki (yellowtail handroll)
Uni (sea urchin roe)
O-Toro (fatty tuna belly)
and
Unagi (fresh water eel)
Accompanied, of course, by way too much Onikoroshi or Otokoyama sake. Heaven!
Dammit, now I have to go home to leftover BBQ chicken. grumble, grumble, gripe
Me! Me! Me! I love sushi. It’s all about the Dynamite Maki for me.
Last weekend I ate at a sushi bar and sat right next to some people who apparently come in all the time, and commented on one of the dishes they were served. They gave me one of the rolls from it, and it was so good-- it had slices of strawberry around rice and fish and radish sprouts and
I don’t know what else. The people who let me eat their food (lovely people) said that whenever they come in, one of
the chefs just creates things for them. They never order anything, and he just keeps a steady stream of creations coming to them until they’re full. I need to develop this kind of relationship with the chef. Mmmmm.
I just got back from my birthday supper, where I had sushi for the first time, and I feel compelled to say that you are all a bunch of wierdos.
I can be satisfied with just some tekka maki, or some kappa maki. DOOZO YOROSHIKU!

I had sushi (shrimp rolls) for supper about three hours ago.
“Tekka maki”? Isn’t that what Arthur Gordon Pym was shrieking in Poe’s story? Oh, wait. That was "Teke lili. 
What are you? Some kind of mutant? Mmmmmm! Sashimi melting on the tongue! Mmmmmmm!
Haven’t been able to afford to go to the local sushi bar in quite a while tho 
When able, we did: Spicey Tuna Roll, Maki, yellowtail roll, unagi, the boys did some sort of big red fish eggs thingie (my son especially liked the fresh variety we got in DC).

which brings me to the other sushi story - we were quite well known at the place, a fav of the owner, in fact. We would play jokes on the wait staff, and he’d always make sure the new ones were ‘blessed’ (his word) by us.
We’d place our order, and when it arrived, we’d say “could we have some ketchup, too, please?” and then give a little nod (my son was expecially good at this with an angelic look). They’d go away puzzled, go to the kitchen and say something like “table 23 wants some ketchup for their sushi. Do we even have ketchup?”, then the entire kitchen would laugh, Hiroshi (the owner) would double over in mirth, the server would return red faced, and all was good with the world. (we tipped well by the way). Once some one ran across the street to Taco Bell and got some ketchup for us!

I eat it once a week in Monterey, Calif. Cost $6.50 for lunch, $14 for dinner all you can eat. It travels around in
a little moat.

Actually I’m not all that well-versed in what’s what, I just eat it with much delight. And sake. So I couldn’t tell you what’s my actual favorite or what I’d want when I’m ordering. Just gimme some sushi!!!
