I’ve always felt that if I ever “found religion,” I’d prefer that it be a religion of the “old ways,” a religion that my ancestors practiced. A religion where Men where Men and Women where Women with a cat’s head and carry a septre made out of the thighbone of a troll. You know, the good old days.
But, failing that, I figure that one of the benefits of being a Pagan is that you get to choose exactly which gods and/or goddresses to add to your personal pantheon. Hephaistos had always been a favorite of mine. Also Athena and Seshat. With Vidar and Crom bring up the auxilury.
So, does anyone else have any favorites of their own?
My favorite Godess is none other than Gaia herself. As I practice an eclectic verson of paganism (And what isn’t?) Good old Mother Earth seems to be one of the few ladies I can feel close to.
She hath raised me in her boosm. She hath sheltered me in her green. She hath nourished me of her wealth .I marvel at her wonders.
As a Heathen idolator, I’d second that with Bastet. Ancient Egyptian godess of fertility. meow

Aside from me myself, I am closest to the Goddess, The Tuatha de Danaan, Cernunnos, Bast, Aphrodite, Eris, Hephaestus, Dionysos, Athena, Hermes, Hanuman, Ganesh, & Kali
Tiamat. But you could guess that from the username, right?
After her, the Green Man, Selune, Sol Invictus, Maman Yemaya, Oya, Cernunnos, Astarte, and Beletili all figure pretty prominently in my personal devotions.
My favorite pantheon is the Irish Celtic one, but I don’t feel particularly drawn to any one of its gods or goddesses in particular.
Definitely Bast. I’m an agnostic, but I once prayed to her. This stray cat to whom I was very attached disappeared one day. Frantic, I prayed fervently to Bast that if she delivered him safely to me, I would take care of him for the rest of his life.
I was awakened the next day by a banging on my door. A neighbor found the kitty, sick unto death and badly wounded, collapsed on the back deck. I got him fixed up and he turned out to be one of the best friends I’ve ever had.
typin’ as me accent sounds (i dunnot have ta use. ah’ve been in the US fer so long) but me ancestors were Celtic and quite obviously that’s rather Pagan. i dunnot hav a favorite because ah meself am not Celtic in religion (i’m actually buddhist believe it or not. imagine that a buddhist paddie) but ah respect your opinions but ah also think that before you jus’ name off a patron because they represent somthin’ to you, you shold firs’ find out more about them and their ‘tendencies’.
Off the top of my head: Loki, Odin, Thor, Artemis, Pan, Horus, Thoth, Osiris, Anubis, Bast.
And, although I’m not of Maori descent, I will add Tane of the Forest, Rangi and Papa from whom the world and the sky were made, and Maui who fished my island from out of the sea.
I’ve always been something of a fan of Zurvan myself. In Zoroastrianism, Zurvan was the God of Time, who existed before all other things, and was the father of Ahura Mazda and Ahriman.
