I just got Vista Ultimate yesterday, installed it and have been setting up my software today.
So far my impression is a bit guarded. I like the new AERO GUI. It looks nice, it’s fast, gives you good feedback, I like the gadgets side bar a lot. The new permissions and user setup has been giving some problems however. firefox refused to start until I had the application start in administrator mode and now I have to deal with the silly warning pop-up everytime I use it asking me for permission to open the app.
There is also a disturbing corruption of the screen that happens whenever some applications are maximized then closed. It lasts only an instant, but it only helps give one the impretion that the OS is still has need of some more spit and polish.
I can’t wait to tell my SO that vista that her incredimail application refuses to load the old settings from before (it won’t open the .cab file for some reason, and I’ve tried everything to get to do so). She is not going to be happy.
I played around with media center, media player, and the photo album app and so far, they rock. I’m definately going to take advantage of the multimedia aspects of vista.
Oh, and I was promised moving backgrounds, where the heck are they?! Anyone know???
