There are no 7-11’s in Houston anymore. Stop-n-Go bought them out back in the 80’s. But on cable, and network television they have been tempting me with exotic Slurpee flavors. I love Slurpee’s. I grew up with them.
Generally, network and cable are sophisticated enough to have commercials that are regionally relevant. Expecially in a larger market such as greater Houston.
Hopefully, they are giong to return into the market, but I’m guessing its just an oversight.
We get the ads in the Twin Cities, too. SuperAmerica bought out 7-11 quite a while ago. We also get ads for Lowe’s (the ads are for their stores, not their web site) and the nearest store is down in Iowa. It’s probably that they made advertisement contracts with the national networks instead of dealing with all of the local stations.
There’s a Godfather’s somewhere in Central New York on 81 I think.
I assume it’s a national contract and it’s cheaper to play it nationally than to swap it out. Also, 7-11 figures there’s no harm in running it in other areas; after all, people do move.
