Why Are Certain Model Chryslers Showing Up on TV All of a Sudden?

My first car was a 1971 Chrysler Newport, and suddenly, I’ve noticed that in recent programs (mainly things on the History Channel, TLC, and Discover) that they’ll have one of these cars (the body style ran from roughly 1968 to 1975) in the show. This wouldn’t be some random car driving in the background, one of the actors in the shows (usually during a reenactment scene) would be in the car. I find it puzzling since the car’s been virtually nonexistant on the TV screen up until now. I don’t think that it’s a “product placement” issue since the car wasn’t very popular when it was made, and not too many people are going to know that it’s a Chrysler. Additionally, it’ll be the only Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth/Mercedes/Jeep product in the program. I find this kind of distressing since I’d like to have another one some day, and if the car gains any kind of popularity, it’s going to drive up the price of them. :frowning:
