Men singing about women’s WAPs is sexually demeaning. Women singing about their own WAPs is empowering. (Also disgusting IMO, but chacun a son gout and all that). This has been pointed out to you before.
No one is demanding The Cat in the Hat be cancelled. No one is demanding any Dr Seuss book be cancelled. This has also been pointed out to you before.
The standards of acceptable content for adult rap songs are different than those for books aimed at toddlers. This has also been pointed out to you before.
Understanding the difference between adult rap songs and children’s book is not “hypocrisy”. This has also been pointed out to you before.
Your definition of individual rights has always been “rights for me” while “nobody I disagree with has any rights at all.” Read your posts, if you have the stomach for it.
All you do is scream individual rights and then deny other individuals their right not to be oppressed, to freely join into groups, and to use political and social pressure to achieve their goals. You’re right that’s not a liberal stance. It has always been the message on the bottom of the boots of the conservatives.
We see right through you. The only lumps that are opaque are the parts that are despicable. Strain those out and nothing is left.
And goddam it, the Civil War was about slavery. Nothing else. Slavery, slavery, slavery. You would have made the perfect slaveowner, screaming about your individual right to own slaves. You’ve obviously modeled your entire life after them.
We? And you wonder why you all are derisively referred to as a hive. Not only are your thoughts homogenous and reflexive they are wholly inaccurate. But since you get stroked for being in congruence you parrot them. Grats, I suppose.
Who is the one that is concerned about these? I hear lots of noise from the right, lots of complaints and whining from you.
As has been pointed out, we don’t have to listen to it if we don’t want to. And if the author of these songs chooses to stop publishing them, if they decide that they no longer reflect the values that they wish to portray, then I would support them in that decision as well.
I don’t listen to it either. And can you tell me who is demanding that Cat in the Hat be cancelled? If nothing else, you are aware that Cat in the Hat is not one of the works that Suess’s estate no longer chooses to publish, right?
But logic, fact, and valid argument aren’t “immature needs.” They’re critical components of a healthy debate and a productive dialogue, and they’re pathologically wanting in you.
Despite my (cleverly deduced) ‘intellectual and emotional coward[ice],’ I can still string coherent sentences together without fragging logic, logical consistency, and debate in the attempt.
? Why should anyone be concerned about sexual explicitness in adult pop songs? As long as you’re not playing them in the daycare or other inappropriate settings, I see no cause for concern in consenting adults listening to dirty lyrics as much as they want to.
And your weasel words of “relatively” and “one could say” and “could be argued that” aren’t adding any persuasiveness to your unsupported assertion that the lyrics of “WAP” actually are “demeaning” or “misogynistic”.
The only people freaking out with “concern” about commercial products like Potato Head, Aunt Jemima, and Dr. Seuss books are the right-wingers trying to whip up popular paranoia about bullshit fears of socialist totalitarianism and what-not. There’s nothing to be concerned about in the phenomenon of manufacturers changing their product line to retire some outdated racist or sexist imagery.
It is absolutely pathetic to see so many conservatives making such a fuss because they no longer get a “mammy” caricature of a black woman on their syrup bottle or a male honorific on their potato toy. Are you really so insecure in the modern world that you can’t stand to have your cultural reminders of the traditionally racist and sexist past removed from product labels because the producers are trying to be more appealing to modern consumers? (You can still call your own Potato Head toy “Mr. Potato Head” if you prefer to regard it as male, you know.)
It could be, and there’s certainly a potential substantive argument to be made there. Perhaps you should make it, preferably in a separate thread in which it’s relevant.
Because derisively referring to everyone else as a “hive” is easier than making an argument supported by evidence or accepting that the argument unsupported by reality you keep making is so staggeringly wrong it’s obvious to everyone but yourself.
In much the same way that saying that punching people in the face in the boxing ring is acceptable but doing so in church is unacceptable is “hypocrisy”.
Nitpick: The first part of the word “dialogue” is from Greek “dia”, “through”, rather than “duo”, “two”. The term “dialogue” is just as etymologically applicable to a discussion among many people as it is to a conversation between only two, so you don’t have to coin a new word to express the idea of having a dialogue with multiple people.
