Why are Christian Bookstores Allowed to Ban Books?

Again, you deny basic biology since it doesn’t fit your narrative. Perhaps more redefined words would solve that pesky problem of reality not conforming to politics. You know damn well that physical strength is applicable to more jobs that just the NBA.

What @Thing.Fish said. Leading to the bad faith seen here:

Yep, dishonestly moving the goal posts so as not having to deal with the racism that was pointed out.

This is like Trump vs Trump tweets.

Figures the only thing you can come up with is “Men are physically superior and can beat women”.

So, those particles are pretty heavy then?

‘Dat’s sexist!11!’

‘OMB!11’

Is that a more acceptable form of ‘debate?’

Oh, you only want selective equality of outcome? Hmm.

The troll is scuttering away down a gender-related side track. I’d really like to pin him down to a direct response on this:

  1. Modern America has extreme disparities in wealth and education between racial groups. (A theoretically, but not realistically, falsifiable statement)

  2. There are no innate biological differences between racial groups which would explain these differential outcomes. Every racial group contains identical proportions of geniuses and idiots, hard workers and slackers, honest people and thieves. (Ditto)

  3. Therefore, all observed differences must be due to social structures privileging some racial groups over others. Since the differences observed in this case are so dramatic, we conclude that institutional racism is a huge problem in America.

Can you make a convincing argument that either (1) or (2) are false, or that accepting them as true doesn’t lead inexorably to conclusion (3)?

I apologize for humoring this sidetrack as long as I have. It does seem as though, once again, you have nothing to offer.

Yep, the mollusk has nothing to offer but bad faith and dishonesty.

Like I said, he’s not here for the same reason you’re here. If he comes in cosplaying a brave champion of liberty and waving his +2 sword of vanquishing liberal monsters, there’s no reason why we have to cosplay alongside him.

‘Oh gee it’s a racist wizard in the pit! ‘

You sound sillier than the mean girls.

I would like… to RAGE!

</Grog Voice>

When a field like engineering is 70% men, is that a failure of ‘equity’? It appears so, because my company announced preferential hiring for female coders until we were 50/50. The problem is that we only graduate about 25% women in software engineerjng. Is that also a failure of equity? What if that’s roughly the percentage of women who actually want to do that? What then? How do we get to 50%?

‘Equity’ is about outcome, not whether the playing field is fair. That’s equality. Equity specifically says that the mere existence of an imbalance is evidence of racism or sexism and must be corrected, even if the field is colorblind. In fact, in the twisted minds of ‘antiracists’, Colorblindness itself is a form of ‘whiteness’ and must be vanquished for ‘equity’.

If a field like psychology is 70% women, is that a problem for equity? Should there be preferential hiring for men in psychology until we are at 50/50? How about nursing? Or teaching? All heavily female dominated.

The majority of graduating medical doctors, one of the most prestigious and high-paying fields, are now women. Once they catch up to men in the workforce, should there be quotas for male med students?

Women now make up about 63% of college students, and men only 37%. That sounds like a huge disparate outcome to me. ‘Equity’ calls for women to be penalized until we’re back to 50/50, right?

I think we know the answer. The people who claim to believe in ‘equity’ mean only equity for their preferred groups. If you are a an Asian trying to get into Harvard, no equity for you. You will need to score 400 points higher on your SATs to have the same chance of getting in as a black applicant, and 150 points higher than other applicants. And this despite the fact that Asians are heavily under-represented in the Ivy Leagues.

If a school graduates black kids without giving them a decent education, and therefore they are unrepresented in college, what’s the path to ‘equity’? Quotas for black students? Dumbing down the curriculum so the less prepared can still get through? Declaring that results are racist and setting different standards through preferential grading?

How about *fixing the fucking horrible schools in the inner cities, or allowing parents to choose where to school their kids? Perhaps doing the hard work of rebuilding neighborhoods ravaged by crime and single parenthood?

The ‘equity’ crowd focuses on the former, because the Democrats are owned by the teacher’s unions so schools are off limits other than funneling more money to them, and a lot of the problems facing black communities stem from failed Democratic policies. Can’t address those either. So we have to fix everything except the things that are actually causing the problems, and to do so we have to ruin race relations and set the public against each other and absorb the whackjob theories of a bunch of critical race lunatics with garbage ideas, or race hustlers like Beverly De’Angeles, who never saw an interaction between people of different races she couldn’t make a buck off by declaring racism.

Good people. You have been going round and round on the same points for hundreds of repetitions. Pointing out the lies, the moving goalposts, the cherrypicked examples, the nonsensical definitions, the lack of relation to reality has made no difference. It never will. These are trolls who, for whatever reasons blighted their lives and dimmed their brains, have voluntarily chosen to place themselves outside decent humanity.

Stop feeding them. They have no original thoughts. They can only deny the truths of others. Without a response they are as helpless as gasping fish on a pier.

DNFTT. I broke that rule and I apologize.

Gotta admit, it would take some pretty strong muscles to move that much straw.

Is it really that only that percent want to do that, or a significant number are discouraged due to cultural or institutional factors?

Equity is a goal to strive for.

Equality is how we get there.

No it doesn’t. I means that imbalances indicate that equality probably does not exist.

I’m sure you do.

But you certainly don’t.

What do you think it is? I would say that it is improving these schools that are graduating kids without giving them a decent education. Did you have a different suggestion?

Oh, no the problem is Democrats trying to fix schools, yeah… :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

So, the problem is that schools are failing students, and your solution is to do everything but fix the schools.

Sorry to say, but it sounds like your school failed you, too.

I mean, that’s what you have been doing all along, how’s that working out for ya?

My, you are a hateful little piece of shit, aren’t you?

First bolded part – circular logic. You’re declaring a priori that the field is colorblind and thus that all evidence to the contrary can be disregarded. You’re also changing the subject from race to gender when it suits your argument.

Second bolded part – Yes, obviously in the long run that would be the ideal solution. I’m confused as to how we are supposed to fix those horrible schools without “funneling more money to them”, but clearly addressing the racial gap in the quality of public education is crucial. Second sentence here is racist insofar as it appears to blame black people for their situation. Why do you think “crime and single parenthood” are more problematic in black communities than in white ones?

ETA: Oh, I guess the “B” button now puts asterixes instead of actually, like, bolding the quote. Can we all agree that Discourse blows?

Sorry, failed my wisdom save…

Fortunately, I can’t be charmed or frightened.

I use these threads as an opportunity to hone my arguments for possible use in future debates with people arguing in good faith. I am under no illusion that this thread is such a debate.

It’s never been about equality or so-called ‘equity.’ It’s always been about power. That’s why the intrinsic logical inconsistencies within the woke left can’t be solved. They can only be obfuscated by linguistic shenanigans that would make Humpty Dumpty blush, cancel culture, and violence.

The irony is strong in this one!
