As the child of someone who worked in the dairy business, both on the wholesale end (as a farmer) and the retail end (store owner), I can tell you that this debate about raw milk and pasteurized milk is not new and has been going on for decades.
My father consumed mostly raw milk as a kid because his parents didn’t bother to pasteurize it because they didn’t feel like it. When my dad married my mom, she bought a pasteurizing machine for her own use.
When they left farming and opened up a store, my father would occasionally bring home raw milk, but it wasn’t too popular with us. Mainly because we didn’t like the way it looked. I think we liked homogenization more than pasteurization. One time when some raw milk went bad, it went really bad and gave off a ghastly smell.
