Why are Jumbo eggs unpopular?

You know, I cook a lot and bake a reasonable amount. I don’t go through a ton of eggs, but I see my share. I’ve never in all my life seen one with a double yolk. Never thought about it before today.

I’ve never seen one unless I bought a carton of double-yolk eggs on purpose. And this includes a large part of my childhood when we bought our eggs from a neighbor who kept chickens in her back yard. They seem to be pretty rare.

I wasn’t aware you could buy them in double-yolk form. Shit…if I could, I’d buy them every time. I see them as a box of little twins, going through their short, eggy lives together.
