Why are message board mods/admins (outside the SDMB) such fucking Nazis?

Or I should say, de-lurked.

:rolleyes: yourself, Celestina. A Nazi isn’t just anyone who is mean to you or doesn’t let you put a link on a fargin’ message board. If you’d like, there are friends of my family who can describe to you in excruciating detail exactly what a Nazi is. I suspect you already know, though.

It especially bugs me to see scott evil tossing the word around so casually, yet getting so upset for people using “gay” in a derogatory manner. Hey, how about a little quid pro quo here, you know?

Sorry, but everybody has their pet peeves, and this is one of mine.

And just how Celestina got involved in all this, we’ll probably never know. :wink:

Ah, crap. Strike “celestina,” replace with “cessandra,” and gimme another tequila.

Being a non-profit doesn’t mean not following the laws, it means following a slightly different set of laws.

I’m sure < your favorite author, singer, or film director here> would appreciate having their work stolen and redistributed by a group whose justification was that they worked in an organization some of who’s goals are not to make money. Yes, that makes perfect sense.

But just because they’re breaking one law, doesn’t mean they’re breaking others. It doesn’t mean their moderation policy is necessarily wrong.

Supporting your position, tho, my experience managing systems administrators in past is that some very manipulative, power-driven people put themselves intentionally in those positions, knowing that their activities will be hard to control, and that they will wield a lot of arbitrary power. Naturally, the SDMD admins and moderators, being driven by higher purposes, are entirely exempt. :;

silentgoldfish, could you drop me an e-mail, please? Thank you. :smiley:
