[again nothing to do with the SDMB-I’ll try to write this with as few details as possible so as to protect the guilty-me included]
I like many of you have other realms I patrol. A certain mod team for a certain game came out with what looked to me like a very high quality mod-only to scan the various forums for this game and not see a single post on it, when otherwise you’d think there would be multi-page threads on it. Naturally this piqued my curiousity (even tho I don’t actually own this game-long story, but the mod if available probably would have had me go out and get it as it had things I’ve been waiting a long time for in a game like this).
I went to a subsidiary board (1/10th the size of the other one) and posted what turned out to be some half-assed speculations on my part (yes this is partly my fault) in my typical imitable style. Eventually another thread did open up on the big board, and I chimed in there with a couple of thoughts which probably weren’t phrased properly. When the creators of the mod finally posted with the facts, I immediately apologized to both in PMs and washed my hands of the entire affair.
Meanwhile tho at the small board a moderator from the big board decided to pay a visit and deliver me a stern dressing down. Okay, I deserved that, apologized to him and told everyone that I am dropping the subject. Or so I thought. He decided to keep harping away, even tho he doesn’t moderate at this small board and has no real business coming there and continuing to blather away (the fact that both of my primary speculations were essentially correct anyway isn’t germane at this point, just thought I’d point that out).
The moderators at this big board have had a long reputation of being overly sensitive and autocratic and playing favorites. If he wants to officially warn me at his board, that is fine. But he had no business invading the territory of another board and continuing to spew vitriol after I had already decided to move on.
If anyone cares enough to want any specifics, PM me. Just had to vent.
