why are pythons all muscle on only one mouse a week?

Oh yeah. I have the entire spectrum of Feeding response in my little buddies. One who refuses to eat more than once every two months,
-one who will only eat f/t mice (and this is a big female),
-one who will only eat if left alone in a dark place for a few hours,
-one who will usually eat, but will take him a second or thre to realize that yes, this is a rat that I can eat,
-another who’ll usually eat unless in shed,
-and another who will always eat anything presented to him, no matter if he’s in shed, just ate, etc. And will just about take my hand off (or he would, if he wasn’t only 2’ long) if he’s hungry. Hafta keep him well-fed or he gets orney. I’ve had him launch out of his feeding box and wrap around a rat before I could get it in the box. FAST.

I also had a hatchling who refused to eat anything for a month, until I started asist-feeding her. Had to “help” her almost every time. Sadly, she recently died. I susspect parasites. Hindsight is 20/20.

BPs are supposed to be finicky eaters. It all depends on the snake, I guess.

I believe there has been extensive searching and even hundreds of thousands of dollars’ prizes availabe for any snake over 10 meters (33 ft) long, yet no one has come up with one. Plenty of tales about 40 or 60 ft. snakes, sure, but I think the 49 ft claim is BS. I haven’t seen that one in any reliable source (not that I’ve spent much time looking for one).

I have a baby Kenyan Sand Boa. She eats a couple pinkies or one fuzzy, lies around for a few days, then poops about a week after eating. Then she starts to get more active at night, when she appears to be hunting. That’s when I feed her her next meal.
