It can be imminent, depending on how far you are from a source of beer.
Thanks for admitting that Obama the GreatTM held the exact same position on gay marriage that the hysterical idiots on the left despise but was voted in regardless because, in addition to being hateful bigots, they’re also giant flaming hypocrites. ![]()
No, it was because his position (in favor of civil unions) was superior to his opponent’s (opposing civil unions and gay marriage).
Yeah, you’re right, we don’t really care if gay people can get married, we just say that to piss you guys off.
If you are talking about his total number of functioning brain cells, you are correct.
You’re free to say anything. But you’re not going to convince anyone unless you come up with something more plausible than what you’ve offered so far.
In order to do that, you have to trample on womens’ concerns about men in bathrooms and locker rooms.
To integrate schools, we had to trample on racists’ concerns about negroes in the same classrooms as white kids.
Tough.
ETA: By the way, bullshit. This is about girls in girls’ restrooms, not about boys in girls’ restrooms.
Who is this “we” you’re referring to? Do you seriously expect anyone to believe you were alive during integration? Your hilarious attempts to compare one’s inability to use a specific bathroom this week because they’ve suddenly decided they’re the opposite sex, with the horrors of “separate but equal,” show we’re dealing with a real Mensa member here.
And you were so willing to be convinced too ![]()
So white males are going to tell women what a woman is, and force them to accept it? Interesting idea. Don’t think it’s going to work so well.
It’s 100% normal English usage to use “we” to refer to a group that the speaker is a part of that acted in the past even before the speaker was alive (or before the speaker was a part of that group). So the “we” could have either referred to “America” or “American liberals”.
Pretty lame attempt at a gotcha, even from someone who is doing an impressive job of rapidly rising up the ranks of obnoxious-and-substance-free-conservative-windbags. (Am I judging you unfairly? perhaps you should try actually defending your position from post #194, or at least comment on your refusal to do so.)
I’m by no means an expert on transgendered people, but comparing actual male-to-female or female-to-male transitioning with “they’ve suddenly decided they’re the opposite sex” is ludicrous.
Anyhow, I’m pretty sure that a fair number of states or localities have laws now which allow transpeople to use the bathroom of their identified gender. Have there been any reports of the system being abused? I suppose it hypothetically could, depending on how the law was written, and I’m willing to be shown some evidence more substantive than ignorant-sounding panic. (Which is the difference between me and you, or at least you-as-you-have-presented-yourself-so-far-in-this-thread. I am willing to be shown some evidence…)
When you manage to acquire a fifth-grade level of literacy, be sure to come back.
Where do you get “white males” from this? The law is being changed (in California, it has been changed) to allow school-kids to self-identify as trans-sex. The CA legislature is made up of more than just “white males.”
Your racism is not welcome here.
Possible, I suppose. That an eight or nine year old boy who feels he is a girl can live that way and still attend school without it being a living hell.
Wouldn’t that be something?
Shouldn’t women get the vote on this one? I know most of us males don’t really care much about an anatomical female in our presence, and if we do it’s because we’re just haters. But women have very good reasons to not want penises in female-only places. I know there are many women who don’t care, but I have no idea if it’s a majority or not.
Wait, they WEREN’T? OK, I certainly don’t approve of a policy in which one of the two major genders is totally disenfranchised when voting about certain issues. Odd, I would have thought that would have been better publicized.
No, I mean that women should be especially consulted on this issue. If all men are cool with it, becuase obviously a woman in our bathroom is not a threat, and say 20% of women are cool with it, then women just lose.
There’s a glimmer of an interesting discussion there… but (a) it’s a total hijack of this thread (b) it’s quite clear that all you’re really trying to do is pull some lame gotcha or other, and (c) you’re trivializing a complicated and emotionally fraught issue in a fairly offensive fashion.
Actually, I was just pointing out that it’s not so simple as “they are whatever gender they identify as.” Due to the different biological natures of men and women, and the difference between pre-op and post-op, whether they are taking hormones or not, etc., there are a lot of issues that have to be resolved. Are bathrooms and locker rooms designed for gender or sex? Seems to me that an argument can be made that they are designed for sex. Otherwise, why not have stalls in female bathrooms? Maybe we’ll have to install them because civil rights.
