Stan Bush used to be the king of that kind of stuff during the 80s. He was your go-to guy for inspirational montage music. Although the biggest hit from that sub-genre ever is Eye of the Tiger, of course.
Speaking of 80s genre non-trad music topics, there was a movie from 2006 called BoyTown, named after a fictional huge boy band from the 80s. When the band members hit middle age, they decided they could still do boy band schtick but aim it at middle-aged mums.
