Why are some of the trees still green

Some of the trees are still green around here and it is November 1st. About 90%+ of the trees have lost all their leaves, and the leaves turned orange over a month ago but these trees still have green leaves that are either still all green or only starting to turn orange. I have noticed that they seem to occur in groups with several trees next to each other that are still green, they aren’t really isolated trees. Why is this happening exactly? Are they a special type of tree, or is the ground in that particular area more nutritious and damp? Or is there some other reason like how sunshine hits that particular area.

Around here, the oaks are always the last to turn color and lose their leaves. A few of them will keep their dry brown leaves all winter. They’re also the last trees to green up in spring.

Are they near a streetlight? Most trees use the dimishing amount of light in the fall as the signal to drop their leaves. A streetlight could screw up this process.

At my last work place, there were a row of trees along side the building across the parking lot. I noticed that on some of the branches, some of the leaves would stay green all year around. I finally figured out that those branches were near a couple security lights on the side of the building.
