Because if a straight guy is having sex, there is no other man involved. If the film represents the heterosexual fantasy, the man in the film is at best a stand-in for the viewer, because in the viewer’s fantasy, there is no other male present when he has sex. This makes suspension of disbelief harder: he has to either ignore the person screwing the woman, or pretend that person is himself. Watching lesbian porn (or a gay man watching gay porn) does not present that obstacle: in lesbian porn, in the fantasy, both women are still present. It is easier for the viewer to create the illusion that, if he were there in person, he could join right in.
Of course, that’s not true for everyone, and none of these explanations cover every possible example. Take myself: I’m a bisexual male who loves lesbian porn.* If I’m not watching lesbians, I’m watching gay porn. I never, ever watch straight porn: it’s the most boring thing in the world to me. ululate’s hypothesis about prefering to have your view blocked by another naked woman instead of a naked man is probably the most widely applicable, but I’m certainly an exception to it: I like looking at naked guys. I also like looking at naked girls. For some reason, I don’t like looking at them together.
*Real, or at least, believable lesbians. Big hair, plastic tits, and long fingernails are an instant turn-off.
I’ve never had the chance to talk to a bisexual man, so, Miller, if you don’t mind, and please ignore the questions if you don’t wish to answer them, could you tell me if a three-way represents one of your favourite sexual secnarios, whereby you can cater to both sides of your nature in the same place and, give or take a few minutes, at the same time? Are such encounters easy to arrange (say, after an evening at a club), or do the others balk at the idea of a menage a trois? Does it have to be arranged through magazines, or the like?
Actually, group sex doesn’t really appeal to me. I’m pretty monogamous by nature. I’d go along with it if it were something my partner were really into, but I’ve never sought it out on my own, so I wouldn’t really know how to go about it. If I were to persue it, I’d probably seek out either two women, or two more guys. I don’t really have any interest in having “one of each.” I don’t see my bisexuality as me having a dual nature. I’m the same person if I’m dating a man or a woman, and what I’m looking for out of a relationship isn’t gender-dependent. In a way, you could almost say that I don’t have a gender preference so much as a gender disinterest. The guy I’m with now is no slouch in the looks department, but what really attracts me to him is his personality, not his plumbing. I don’t feel like I’m missing anything from the relationship because he doesn’t have a vagina.

For me, it’s because I find lesbian porn so unbelievably arousing and erotic on pretty much every conceivable level. I’m not going to try and attach any intellectual justifcation to it: I love seeing two women screwing each other stupid.

The thing is, a lot of the guys in porn are, well, butt-ugly. Sure, they’ve got a huge schlong and can lick their own eyebrows, but if they look like the illegitimate offspring of Chewbacca and Jay Sherman, then no matter how hot the girl is, the overall hotness of the scene takes a nose-dive IMO.
The other thing is that a lot of porn is disturbingly misogynstic, with the guy slapping the woman’s face with his dick, calling her a bitch and a slut, and shoving his dick in all sorts of orifices after spitting on the girl to lube her up. :eek:
While most Lesbian porn isn’t necessarily much better, it’s less disturbing for me to see a dominant woman calling another woman a slut, for some reason…
Also, the girls in lesbian porn appear to be having a better time, although I concede that’s a purely subjective statement.
