People are turned on by different things. For men I think the idea is “one is great but two would be better” and the idea that the women are just having warm up sex until the man comes along.
What women do hasn’t really been considered all that important. Since women were often seen as little more then the property of their husbands or fathers it’s a bigger deal if they have sex with a man then it is with a woman. You can find some historical condemnation of homosexual activities between women but compared to hot man love you’ll find very little.

If a rabbi made it up to rationalize their hatred for gay men–which, BTW, I believe is the case–it happened a long, long, long time before Christ was supposedly born, and the picture I think you’re envisioning of a bunch of Hassidic rabbis deviously gathering together in Brooklyn c. 1957 to ban homosexuality by some circular argument is inaccurate.

There have been some really good reasons given, but I tend to take the simple view.
Take men. You are talking about a species that, if there was absolutely no other options on earth, would fuck a sheep to soothe his libido. I don’t care what it is, if it involves a naked chick, men will get turned on. A naked chick doing some guy, a naked chick doing another chick, a naked chick doing a donkey, a naked chick doing three guys, a bulldozer, John Merrick, it doesn’t matter. I think a similar attitude can still be found today - Men are expected to be “manly” heterosexuals holding the position of power, whereas women are not much more than sexual objects.

There was a thread about a year ago that I can’t seem to find which talked about why women like gay male porn. The consensus was that it’s more “real” than straight porn, which is aimed at men, and some women are ooged out by lesbian porn, which is also aimed at straight men. Gay male porn is just hot as all get out; the actors at least look like they’re into what they’re doing, as opposed to women in most of the porn I’ve seen.
