Hi everybody!
I’m supposed to be writing an essay in school about buddhism in the western world. I’m doing some research and I would be very grateful if anyone in the western world who has converted to buddhism shortly could write the reason(s) why.
Gotta hate my grammar =), anyway my question is:
Why did you convert to buddhism?
part of the reason is that all of other religions need you to believe in a supernatural power. Buddism merely requires you to believe in the power of your mind to do good, and relieve suffering.
ps I have not really “converted”. My main issue with B is that it seems to require a kind of Nilhism, forsake everything and you will have no more sorrow and acheive Nirvana. I am not sure I can wholly go along with that. No doubt some real Bs will come along and tell me I am completely wrong with my conceptions
