That’s a good point. As a business owner are you more worried about the guy in your store/bank for 10-30 minutes who might be stealing from you, or the guy there 8 hours a day 5 days a week who might be stealing from you (and has an easier time doing it)?
And I imagine insurance would cover theft losses, while there’s no way to recoup the drip-drip of employee pilfering.
Makes me glad I live in a rural area. None of our local banks have bulletproof glass or cameras pointed right at the customer’s face. Makes for a much more pleasant and convenient process.
I worked in a large retail bank (the largest size category that that particular bank runs, one of the big 4 banks) in an urban area that isn’t particularly crime-free. We had no glass or non-ceiling cameras. It all depends on what that branch wants to do.
