Sure, we can say it. I’ll say it. Oriental, Oriental, Oriental. I think some people dislike this term (my girlfriend, for one) but other East Asians on this board have said that they don’t mind it.
It’s considered an “antiquated” word by most Americans, but I don’t know why “antiquated” equals “offensive.” If I went around calling bathrooms “water closets,” I’d get looks of bemusement at most, but if I went around saying “Negroes” I would make people angry.
