Kids, I’ve concluded that the same thing that’s wrong with the political process is what’s wrong with how we celebrate holidays: we start way too damned soon.
I’m in favor of a Constitutional Amendment prohibiting political ads of any kind for a space of time greater than 30 days before the November election. Screw the primaries. The electoral college has outlived it’s usefulness-let the popular vote be the deciding factor.
This way we won’t have all of these protracted arguments about “my candidate is less of a dickhead than your candidate”.
While we’re doing that-no Christmas promotions, Ho-Ho-Ho, or other associated bullshit until Black Friday. All things in their proper season.
Then again, I’d favor term limits, such that these bastards actually work at what they were elected to do, instead of spending their time trying to convince me to let them do my butt again.

I am extremely displeased about two things in this election: First, where the fuck are the issues? Why hasn’t Kerry come out on NATIONAL TV chronicling the actual lies and misdeeds of this admin, instead of giving stiff, vague references somewhere in East Bumfuck (see point #2)? Why doesn’t he get on National TV and say “Hey folks, how are you liking the Patriot Act?, The economy? You want something better? Here it is…”
Second, no offense to the people of Ohio, West Virginia, etc., but this an election for the president of the UNITED STATES! All of us! The candidates have spent enough time in the “swing” states to have personally shined all of their shoes…I have not seen one single TV ad for either candidate, and they only seem to come here to raise money. Fuck that!
C’mon, even a foreigner like me knows that because of your electoral college, the only people that matter in the U.S. presidential election are those in swing states.
If you want a national voice, reform the EC.
Huh? There are arguments against the EC, but isn’t it specifically designed to ensure that regions outside of large population centers have a voice they otherwise wouldn’t have? A “national voice”? What does that mean exactly?
And I can assure you that non-swing states certainly do matter. Ask Bush if he’d take California or New York. Swing states get most of the attention now precisely because non-swing states have already effectively exerted their considerable influence. That they are no longer in play for this particular election doesn’t mean they don’t matter. That’s like saying the 21 points your team scored in the first quarter don’t matter because it’s tied now with seconds left in the fourth quarter. Of course they matter: the game wouldn’t be close without them–in fact, it would be over.
President Bush has considerably more time in the service than Senator Kerry.
Presedent Bush admits John Kerrys service was more dangerous and meritorious than his own.
No-one but the extreme leftists are trying to make John Kerry into a war hero. The same people who support Kerry’s consistant record of voting against pro military bills.
There are a couple hundred vets who served in Kerrys unit who have come out against him, less than 20 pro.
There is one secretary who recalls that a guy who had been retired for a while said bush missed a doctors appointment.

The last Saturday in August, my wife and I driving home after an afternoon at the swimming pool with the kids. We stop at the store to pick up something we need to make supper.
WTF??? Christmas cakes and candy already out? It is August 28, the kids are in their bathing suits, it is 80 degrees outside, and we’ve got fruit cakes and Lebkuchen and Frosty the fucking Snowman in the grocery stores?
This is GERMANY for god’s sake. The whole world has gone crazy - and yes, we are getting inundated with crap about the american presidential election and have been for weeks, just like the Germans have any say in who gets elected.
