The PS3 is an amazing choice! Be it for reliability, versatility, or interchangeably! Music player, photo viewer, gaming machine, internet browsing, text chat, audio chat, video chat, dvd/bluray player PS1/PS2*player, media server capability, linux os instal** , psn availability such as movies, videos, game demos, games! I highlighted the more appealing features if not most! Also free psn service, add the fact ps3 has MORE and BETTER I.P.'s and exclusives, it is a better choice of the 3, especially now with the price cut!
… okaaay. The latest models of PS3 do not do Linux, PS2… did they ever do PS1?
And the latest model seem to have the same sort of problems that the X-Box did, solder failures, resulting in a Yellow Light of Death.
And I dig that ‘better’ is subjective, and I’d sure like to see God of War III, but… more exclusives? Really? How are you counting?
He’s not. There’s no way to count PS3 vs Xbox 360 exclusives and have the PS3 come out ahead. I know because I wrote a whole series of articles about the exclusives war in the early days of this generation. The 360 won handily everytime I reran the numbers.
Actually, the problem seems to mostly affect the 60 GB model, which isn’t in production any longer, and totals about 0.5% of all units sold.
I have a PS3 and I’ll say just 3 things:
-
The PS3 fan is noisy. Be prepared for that.

I’m looking forward to a future where console makers don’t try to divvy up the consumer market by securing exclusive releases for their own console only. Instead I look forward to a time when we can choose a console based on its performance alone, and all games (and on-line gameplay) will be interoperable. Yes, I am a dreamer.

I like the PS3. But then I’m only an on and off gamer, not hardcore. I like that it plays my DVDs from other (NTSC) regions, and that the service is very good - they replaced my optical reader after it broke, free of charge, even though I was out of warranty.
Edit for clarity: I meant that the problem affects that proportion of units, not that only 0.5% of units sold were the 60 GB.
Since I don’t really want to start a new thread…
The reviews for Katamari Forever are coming out, and they’re pretty decent, but not great. Most of the comments are things like “a good game, but it’s time for something new”. Well - it’s new to me, as I haven’t played either of the other Katamari games. Anyone want to chime in and rerank the game on the assumption the other games don’t even exist?
Well, you might notice the * ** flying around in my comment, i was going to apply model numbers where they apply, but forgot! As far as better exclusives, XBOX3fixme has what, mass effect, halo, and gears, an nothing else peaked my interest! Besides, thats my opinion, is my opinion wrong?
Uh - your quote:
When you use the word “fact”, you don’t get to play the “opinion” card.
To me Jessica Alba is hotter than Angelina Jolie, to me thats a fact, could never change my mind! Yea, its my post, im not sure what you meant by ‘my quote’?

Welcome to the board, Lunchy.
“Your quote” refers to something you said previously in a post.
Your opinion is fine, whether it’s regarding Alba being hotter than Jolie (which I agree with), or the PS3 having better exclusives than the 360 (which I also agree with). However, the PS3 having MORE exclusives is not really subject to debate - it’s a matter of comparing two different numbers and determining which is larger. In this case, your assertion was wrong - the 360 has far more exclusives than the PS3.
Thank you, appreciate the welcome! Been coming here for 2months now! Yea, the Better part i should have worded diferent, but i see what you mean as far as more exclusives! What i should have said "To me PS3 has better exclusives! Just like the * ** problem, i realized both after, but it wont let me edit it! -L.
Your edit window is 5 minutes, and only if no one has posted to thread in that time, fyi.
I haven’t played this particular iteration of the Katamari franchise, but given the following facts, I feel I can give you a firm recommendation:
A) Reviews for recent Katamari games have basically been “Pros: It’s Katamari! Cons: It’s the same old Katamari and may not be as good as the older Katamari games.”
B) You have never played an older Katamari game.
You will probably deeply enjoy Katamari Forever. You might not enjoy it as much as if you instead picked up, say, We <3 Katamari for the PS2 and played that as your first Katamari game, but you will probably have a ton of fun anyway, because you aren’t jaded to the gameplay. Katamari is wrought of pure fun. The only ‘downside’ of getting Forever instead of another entry might be that there are fewer game modes, so the game might not have the longevity of some of the other titles in the series.
Otherwise, you can’t really go wrong. (Though if you have a PS2, I’d suggest getting either or both of the PS2 entries instead).
I’ve been hearing rumors, unconfirmed, about it popping up more frequently on the Slims, which is what drew my attention. Would make sense that an early run of a redesign would have 'em.
Precisely what Airk said. Tis a delight. But much like toffee, you may get sick of it after you finish the first game. But man, you got to try it. It is good!
Personally, I started out wanting a PS3, but… well, after certain people played asshole for PR, I became less enthused. Then Virtua Fighter was no longer an exclusive, and I could tell Final Fantasy wasn’t either.
And I have to admit the X-Box has seriously superior online store, which matters for my Rock Band 2 addiction.
I’m not saying not to buy one, I’m just saying that I made a decision, I’m happy with it, and I’m doing groovy.
But I remain interested in all things PS3 related.
I haven’t played Katamari Forever, but there’s really no way to make a bad Katamari game. They’re all good, but they’re all basically the same.
That said, I love Katamari games, so I heartily any and all appearances by The King of All Cosmos (and his giant package).
Actually, using Metacritic data, you can factually show which console has better exclusives and the PS3 falls well short there too. Sorry man.
Any good compilation of those that’s somewhat current? I’d be interested in seeing such a list, and seeing how the numbers compare once I discount games/genres I’m just not interested in.
We have a Wii at home which is fine since the kid likes it and I don’t do much console gaming. However, the one genre where I would do more console gaming is music games (Guitar Hero/RB/karaoke) and the Wii is very disappointing there compared to the other major consoles. Mainly due to song options.
Actually its all opinion based! So i dont see your logic! Its not like comparing a car to another car! 0-60 times or what have you! So i fail to see how my view of exclusives is incorrect!
