Why buy a PS3?

How so? The online store in the Wii version of Rock Band 2 includes nearly every song the PS3/Xbox 360 stores do. It’s a difference of five or six songs.

Oy, please stop shouting.

Of course it’s opinion based. But when you start compiling dozens up dozens of reviews for just one game, you start getting what’s called a consensus. You may disagree with that consensus, but you need to do so knowing what the prevailing opinion is and that it differs (greatly) from what the facts are (the facts being that critics give higher marks to 360 exclusives than to PS3 exclusives).

There used to be a huge difference in available songs; it’s possible Jophiel hasn’t checked in a while and is still under the impression that there’s this disparity.

Not current, but here’s one from late 2007: The Exclusive Arms Race: November 2007 Update (Special) @ Gaming Target

I will point out that, until Rock Band: The Beatles and Guitar Hero 5, the Wii was limited to SD cards. Those two games take SDHC cards.

So you’re saying the Wii previously could not read SDHC cards, but now it can, through a software update?

Or do those games come with a USB card reader or something? That would make more sense I suppose.

I guess I’m the first one who’s played the new Katamari game. (I’ve had it since Saturday, when I found that the local EB had broken the street date.) It’s not a bad game, but half the levels are repeats from earlier games. The black-and-white that those repeat levels start in is kinda interesting and the game looks beautiful as a whole. The Prince Hop is a nice touch, too, but I can’t get the motion down reliably, so I use the shoulder button instead. It’s a fun game but if you’ve already played the earlier ones I’d suggest waiting until it comes down in price.

I haven’t checked in a while and if Rock Band 2 levels this then that’s good. I can’t speak for whether or not the other music games have addressed this yet or not. But it’s nice to know about RB2. Honestly, I don’t know why the huge gulf ever existed in the first place.

If I get it right, the enabling of SDHC is on a game-by-game basis, in addition to the firmware update that the Wii gets. For all intents and purposes, it’s impossible to add the SDHC support to older games without reissuing the CD.

So any game made after a certain point can support SDHC, but ones made before a certain point can not. Lego Rock Band will support the SDHC and use the traditional DLC store, by the way.

Here’s the list via Wikipedia. Any song with a green check in the far-right column is available for Wii. I skimmed down the list and only saw seven that weren’t checked off. And yeah, I don’t know why there was a problem in the first place or why a handful remain unavailable, but things are much better now.

I have a wii, and it stinks. Maybe 80% of the games are converted games from older versions. For example, mario kart wii is like the 7th generation of mario kart.

The wii is becoming famous for having a lot of really bad games and very few good games, but those few good games are great games.
