This means nothing to anyone outside Kansas City, but I turned on MIX 93.3, a local radio station, and the station manager keeps coming on every few minutes saying the Rocket and Teresa show was ended early.
What did they say? Apparently it was a no-no word.
I mentioned this to my OM and PD. We all have the same response. Assume Rocket or Teresa said the F word. Proper procedure is to remove the person who said the word and leave the other person to finish the shift. If they both said the word…put on the next announcer early. And don’t draw attention to it!
The GM does not, does not, does not go on the air! Exception: maybe each December in a prerecorded announcement wishing happy holidays to the listeners (rotating with well wishes from other staff and management).
When General Managers have suddenly appeared on the air in the past it’s been to create some kind of buzz. Right now we’re in the middle of the very important Fall Arbitron. Sorry to sound like a cynic, but the apprearance and the timing has my BS meter on 10.
