When did the TPP become such a poison pill that the (nominally) free trade Republicans didn’t ratify it last year? Maybe Sanders would have opposed it, but there are probably plenty of Democrats who would have voted for it?
Thanks,
Rob

The TPP was strongly opposed by the Democratic Party’s liberal base as well as the more protectionist-leading Democrat Senators, including Sherrod Brown and Elizabeth Warren, due to it being negotiated behind closed doors as well as the fact that many of its details were closed to the public for quite some time.
Last year, as we know, both major party nominees opposed the Trans-Pacific Partnership, effectively killing it, as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell himself acknowledged its flaws and affirmed it wouldn’t be voted on.
