Was it because the problem was fixed on enough computers? Or was the problem never as serious as was claimed?
Kind of a combination of the two. Much effort was expended during 1998 and 1999. LANs that had unresolved problems could be dealt with on a local level, big systems had much work done and the ultimate last resort response of resetting things to do 1999 over again was always an option. As I recall, we ran into little problems here and there (I think this board even generated some funny dates), but the world is not yet fully automated enough for such things to generate Armegeddon, and, as I say, a lot of work was done. Humans do still run the computers (as opposed to the opposite).
If this has already been discussed, sorry! Please point me to the the thread(s). I did search, but quite possibly not enough.
Whatever Happened to the Y2K bug?

Thanks, Beatle, for the info, & thanks, Astro, for the link. I wonder why a search for “Y2K” didn’t turn up that thread? Maybe because “Y2K” isn’t a real word?
